If you have lost a tooth or one or more of your teeth are decaying, the best option might be to extract that tooth and to replace it with an implant. This might sound drastic, but if you choose the right dentist, this can actually be a very simple procedure that provides you with great results. That is exactly what we try to provide at our dentist office in Southampton, PA.

Implant dentistry has revolutionized our ability to replace missing teeth. From the replacement of one tooth, to the rehabilitation of an entire mouth, Dr.Dancu can utilize the cutting edge technology of implants for your specific need.

How do you know if an implant is the right solution for you? In the instance that having a tooth removed is the best thing to do to keep your mouth healthy, following up an extraction with an implant is almost always going to be the right option.

What is a Dental Implant

Implants are a titanium screw placed by a Periodontist or an Oral Surgeon. Once placed and allowed to heal, the jawbone fuses with the implant forming a solid anchor. The implant can now be used to support a crown (just like a tooth root) or as an anchor point for a full denture or modified bridge. The chewing efficiency of the mouth, which is diminished when a tooth is lost, is restored with the solid support provided with dental implants.

Benefits of Dental Implants

We know that having a tooth removed can be a scary prospect, but we also know that it is often the right option, which is why we offer this service to our patients. When you choose us for your dental implant, know you are working with a dentist who is committed to providing you the very best treatment possible.

But what are some of the benefits of having an implant?

The first is that an implant is the next best thing to having a natural tooth. If your natural tooth has to be removed, it is the very best thing to replace it. While there are other options, dental implants prevent the deterioration of the bone in your jaw and do not interfere with eating or speaking like a denture might. It does everything a natural tooth does, and it does it without harming the health of your mouth.

Implants are also one of the most long term solutions for those that have lost a tooth or had a tooth removed. While a bridge usually lasts about seven years, an implant, when properly maintained, can last more than a decade. You also do not have to worry about it affecting the health of the teeth around it, like you will with a bridge or dentures, especially those that are anchored to the teeth around them.

Furthermore, implants have no effect on what and how you eat. Often, when a bridge or denture is installed you may have to relearn how to eat or eliminate certain foods from your diet altogether. This is not true of an implant, which functions exactly like one of your natural teeth.

Lastly, you will never have to worry about getting a cavity in an implant. Not only does the implant preserve the health of the bone that it is anchored in, it is made of material that is actually good for your mouth and that is simply not going to be an issue down the road.

We find that dental implants are the most predictable cosmetic dentistry solution for many of our patients. If you are in need of an implant or want to find out if this option is right for you, call us today!
