When most people think of making an appointment with a dentist, they only think about the appointments they make every six months to have their teeth cleaned and a checkup with the dentist. Sometimes, however, you will have a situation in which cannot wait six months. There are many instances in which you might need the help of your dentist urgently. Luckily, our Southampton, PA dentist office is equipped to help with dental emergencies.

What exactly constitutes an emergency? If you are having pain or discomfort, this is an emergency and we will be happy to do whatever we can to remediate the problem as quickly as possible. If you feel that you cannot wait even a few days to see a dentist, this constitutes an emergency! You do not have to endure pain or discomfort. Our office will work with you to get you seen by the dentist as quickly as possible!

Common Dental Emergencies

One of the most common reasons people need to see a dentist urgently is because they have had a tooth knocked out. The very first thing you should do when you have a tooth broken or knocked out is to call our office and make an emergency appointment. Handle your tooth very carefully and only by the crown of the tooth. This gives us the best chance of being able to reattach the tooth. If possible, put the tooth very gently back into the sock it came out of. This is the best chance of not allowing the tooth the dry out.

Another common emergency we see is when a tooth has been pushed out of position. This is very close to having a tooth knocked out, but even if it is sticking out at a strange angle, it is still in the socket. Again, you will want to call our office to make an appointment as soon as possible.

Other issues that might be emergent include the fracturing or chipping of a tooth. Often, a very minor fracture or chip does not need any sort of attention, unless you want the area to be smoothed down. Anything other than a minor chip or fracture should be addressed by a dentist as soon as possible. Whether the tooth needs a crown or whether it simply needs to be removed, we will get it taken care of as quickly as possible to ensure that you do not experience any more inconvenience, discomfort, or pain in relation to that tooth.

What To Do In An Emergency

If you need an emergency dentist, you have come to the right place. Whether your issue is cosmetic or whether you are experiencing very real pain, we will help you deal with it as quickly as possible. Many people might not realize that they do not have to wait weeks to be fit into their dentist’s busy schedule. We may even be available to see you on the very same day, depending on availability and the severity of the issue.
